Toasted Pecan French Toast

If there was ever an easy and simple, but decadent and delicious breakfast, I’m convinced it has to be French toast. It’s the perfect breakfast (or breakfast for dinner) to mix up a “same old same old” breakfast menu. This Toasted Pecan French Toast recipe is a lovely balance of sweetness with a bit of texture. Make an ordinary day extraordinary by starting out with a couple slices of Toasted Pecan French Toast. You’ll thank me later. ;)

3 Reasons to Love this Toasted Pecan French Toast:

  1. This Toasted Pecan French Toast recipe is easily scaled up or down depending on your needs. Make a big batch for the whole family, or just enough for yourself. You’ve got options.

  2. If you are feeling especially fun, this Toasted Pecan French Toast can be spruced up with any number of different toppings. Top with strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, whipped cream- the sky’s the limit.

  3. This Toasted Pecan French Toast can be prepped ahead. Feel free to mix up the dipping mixture the night before so all you have to do the next morning is dunk and fry.

Recipe:

  • 6 thick slices of bread (I used a favorite artisanal bread. Brioche and thick-cut Italian bread work great too!)

  • ⅔ cup whole milk

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup Farm Fresh Pecan Pieces (I used medium pieces)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  • Pinch of salt

  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon

  • Pats of butter for toasting and frying

Directions:

  1. Whisk together milk, eggs, vanilla, salt, cinnamon and sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Remember, feel free to mix up the night before and store in the fridge.

  2. Dunk bread in liquid mixture until fully coated.

  3. Allow any excess liquid mixture to drip off the bread. Set dunked slices to the side.

  4. On a griddle or skillet, melt a pat of butter over low heat. Add pecans to heat and slowly stir the pecans until aromatic. Remove from the heat.

  5. On the same surface, add another pat of butter. Add toast slices. Fry until golden/dark brown (depending on your preference).

  6. Plate the toast. Top with toasted pecans and any other topping that tickles your fancy. Enjoy with your favorite syrup (my favorite syrup is our Gourmet Flavored Maple Praline syrup, available here).
